Governing Laws on Computer Use

One of the law would be the Law on Piracy.Section 33-b of Republic Act 8792, Part V, defines piracy as the unauthorized copying, reproduction, dissemination, distribution, importation, use, removal, alteration, substitution, modification, storage, uploading, downloading, communication, making available to the public, or broadcasting of protected material, electronic signature or copyrighted works including legally protected sound recordings or phonograms or information material on protected works, through the use of telecommunication networks, such as, but not limited to, in the internet, in the manner that infringes intellectual property rights shall be punished by a minimum fine of one hundred thousand pesos ( P 100,000.00) and a maximum commensurate to the damage incurred and a mandatory imprisonment of six(6) months to three(3) years.

The laws mentioned above underpinned the non-jural laws like moral law and natural law, because these human actions violate righteousness, justice, equity and fairness.

  1. the law itself is good but how can the government of the philippines monitor internet hacks, illegal downloading etc. if they can't even provide a firewall within government related documents... another is that BIR permitted resellers of computer products sell fake licensed OS, AV and other programs.,
